DiamondClear Hydro features a hydrophobic topcoat that promotes water beading, while DiamondClear features a hydrophilic topcoat that encourages water to spread across the surface. The main distinction is how the surface interacts with water, rather than film thickness or gloss finish.

No. The nominal 7.5 mil thickness includes the topcoat, TPU film and adhesive: the layers that remain on the vehicle. The removable protective capsheet and release liner are excluded from this measurement.
DiamondClear Hydro’s heat-responsive topcoat allows light surface scratches and swirl marks to recover. Self-healing applies to superficial marks in the coating, not deep cuts, punctures or damage to the underlying paint. It helps maintain the film’s appearance but does not make it scratch-proof.
